José Carlos Loureiro

José Carlos Loureiro was born on December 2, 1925 in Covilhã.
In 1946 he finished the Special Course in Architecture at ESBAP (School of Fine Arts of Porto) with 18 values ​​in the subject of Composition and received the Carlos Ramos award.
In 1947 he received the prize from the Porto Industrial Association.
That same year he was part of the group of architects who founded ODAM (Organization of Modern Architects).
In 1950 he took the final course test with 19 values ​​and was invited by Carlos Ramos to a teaching position at ESBAP, where he remained until 1972. In 1991 he returned to teaching at FAUP in the discipline of Construction.
With the Pavilhão dos Desportos project, he received an honorable mention at the 15th Helsinki Olympics Exhibition and participated in the São Paulo Biennial.
He Participated in the U.I.A. (International Union of Architects) Congress in Lisbon (1953), in the Exhibition of Portuguese Architecture in London (1956) and Contemporary Portuguese Architecture in Washington (1958).
Between 1972 and 1974 he was a city councilor at the Porto City Council.
In 1987 he was Vice-President of the Association of Portuguese Architects.
In 2009 he received the Gold Medal of the City of Porto.
In 2012 he was distinguished as an honorary member of the Order of Architects.
In 2017 he received the Gold Medal of the City of Gondomar.
Died on August 31, 2022.
Throughout his intense professional activity, he won several architectural competitions and also joined juries in competitions.

José Manuel Loureiro

José Manuel Loureiro was born on July 10, 1951 in Porto.
In 1974 he graduated in Architecture at ESBAP (School of Fine Arts of Porto).
Between 1974 and 1977 he attended the Architecture and Urban Design course at Oxford Polytechnic - United Kingdom, obtaining the Graduate Diploma Course from R.I.B.A. (Royal Institute of British Architects).
From 1971 he co-worked “part-time” in the practice of Architects José Carlos Loureiro and Luis Pádua Ramos. After returning from the United Kingdom, he started working full time at GALP, joining the company in 1982.
Throughout his activity he integrated and led teams that entered and won several architecture competitions.

Luis Pinheiro Loureiro

Luis Pinheiro Loureiro was born on August 16, 1984 in Porto.
He graduated from FAUP (School of Architecture of the University of Porto) in 2008, where he was monitor of Project 2 subject in 2009.
In 2006/2007 he did an exchange at the Faculty of Architecture of UFRJ (the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro), Brazil.
In 2007/2008 he did an internship with Eduardo Souto de Moura and in 2009 with Álvaro Siza Vieira.
Since 2010, he has worked at the Galp practice, in partnership with José Carlos Loureiro and José Manuel Loureiro.
He participated in the elaboration of the book J. Carlos Loureiro Architect of the publisher Caleidoscópio - 2012.
He was co - author, with Nuno Brandão Costa, of the book J.Carlos Loureiro from the Verso da História publisher for the Jornal Público - Collection of Portuguese Architects Serie 2 - 2013.
He was an assistant at Porto Academy 2013 and 2014.
In 2015, together with Nuno Brandão Costa, he was curator and author of the project for the exhibition about José Carlos Loureiro at the FAUP Museum, integrated in the celebration of the 90th anniversary of the Architect, organized by the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto and by the Marques da Silva Foundation, with general curatorship by Alexandre Alves Costa.
In 2017 he was a finalist in the Concreta Under 40 architecture award.
